Spring Select Registration

Our Spring Select season will start Jan 2024 through March 31st. This year we will be expanding the program to include 6 teams (8U Gold, 10U Gold, 10U Silver, 12U Gold, 12U Silver, 14U Gold).

If you plan on having your daughter try out please CLICK HERE to fill out the Select survey so we will know who to expect.

Any player trying out for Selects must be registered for Spring prior to the tryout. CLICK HERE for Spring registration.

FINAL DETAILS ARE PENDING FOR SPRING SELECT 2023.

The Spring Select program is intended to be a competitive program that lasts about 6-8 weeks for the 8U and older divisions. The purpose of this league is to prepare the teams for the All-Stars program. The Spring Select program is NOT a requirement to be an All-Star and participation on the Select Team does NOT guarantee a spot on the All-Star team.

The Spring Select program is IN ADDITION to the recreational Spring Season play; player must participate in SMGSA's Spring Ball League. Players are not required to be present for every game, but must show a strong level of commitment and must give coaches/team notice when they will not be available.

The Spring Select team will be selected by the Select Team coaches. Prior participation on a Select team does not guarantee a spot on the Spring Select Team. Coaches will use Try-Outs, prior performance, position skillset demands, and other measures to help craft the team. There is no guarantee for playing time or positions during the Select Season.

START DATE: January 1, 2022 (Up to 2 events a week which include practices and games.)

COSTS: There will be an additional cost to participate in the Spring Select program that will help cover jerseys, umpires, gear, and possible tournaments.

  • New Players ($175): Includes Uniform, 3 Friendly Games, and 1 Tournament
  • Returning Players ($100): Includes 3 Friendly Games and 1 Tournament

Registration for Selects will be available once coaches have chosen their teams.


USA SOFTBALL SELECT PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Select Program was established to provide an additional opportunity for players who wish to improve their softball skills beyond the regular league season.  This program is for 8U and older players who wish to improve their softball skills and thereby benefit themselves as well as their league. 

Select Player Eligibility

  • Select players must be individually registered with a recreational league.
  • Select players must be drafted onto an active recreational league team roster in the current season.
  • Select players must play in a minimum of 75% of the league's scheduled games during the current season.

Select Team Eligibility

  • The team roster may include up to 20 players.
  • Participation is limited to one day per week.
  • Select teams may not have more than four players who have participated on a travel-type team after (date TBD) of the current season.
  • Select teams shall be comprised of players from a single Recreational league.
  • Select teams must be approved by the league Board of Directors.
